Florence in Lonely Planet's "Best in Travel 2022"
The 2022 edition of the famous Best in Travel guide published by Lonely Planet includes Florence as a top destination, the only Italian city to make the list.
After almost two years of the pandemic, we are finally returning to our travels and according to Lonely Planet, 2022 will bring the rebirth of tourism. To choose the best places, the popular Best in Travel guide has once again drawn up a list of cities that are particularly worth visiting for 2022. The choice was made by Lonely Planet according to the criteria of sustainability, community involvement, and the use of new itineraries to breathe new life into territories without the drawback of over-tourism that has plagued many popular cities. These factors are precisely what earned Florence a spot among the top 10 cities in the world that the famous guide insists are absolutely worth seeing next year.
Florence, the quintessential Renaissance city, has indeed been "reborn" once again and offers visitors an experience that goes beyond the crowded itineraries surrounding the Uffizi, Duomo, Piazza Signoria, and Ponte Vecchio. Among the novelties to discover in Florence are walking paths that wind along streets and alleys rich in history and charm, guided visits to artists' studios, and unique places "to see again the stars" of Dantean fame. The commitment to creating a new dialogue between the ancient and the contemporary has also been celebrated, such as historic newsstands redecorated with street art and the artistic reclaiming of abandoned spaces such as the ex Manifattura Tabacchi.
We are obviously thrilled that our city has received this international recognition and we can't wait to share all the new attractions with you. Come find us in Florence, in the heart of the historic city center, just 5 minutes from the Duomo. Residence Hilda will be waiting for you!
