Magritte in Florence
Inside Magritte is the new exhibition dedicated to the master of Surrealism, inaugurated on 1 November at the Cattedrale dell’Immagine (formerly the church of Santo Stefano al Ponte), and just a 10-minute walk from Residence Hilda. The evocative spaces of the deconsecrated church provide a canvas for this multimedia and multi-sensory journey that mesmerizes visitors and draws them into the dreamlike world of Magritte, filled with men in bowler hats, pipes, and clouds.
The visual and auditory sensations reconstruct the atmosphere of the Belgian artist's paintings, suspended between reality and imagination. Thanks to Julie Waseige, Belgian art historian and former director of the Magritte Museum in Brussels, with scientific consultation with the Brussels Succession Magritte, visitors can enjoy all the charm of René Magritte's art through a new narrative language.
The 50-minute visit provides a unique immersive experience with evocative images of Magritte's works projected seamlessly in a continuous flow: a journey through his paintings from the first to the last of his artistic career in Surrealism, with magical visuals and emotional impact that make it difficult to forget. The Inside Magritte exhibition is open until 1 March 2020. We’ll be waiting for you in Florence!
