A Sparkling Spring in Florence

01 March 2022 to 31 May 2022

Spring is returning to Florence with plenty of sparkling new attractions. Among the 2022 events scheduled for the coming months, visitors simply can't miss the long-awaited return of exhibitions and concerts, which are finally open to the public again after almost two years.

Let's start with the exhibitions.

Until 1 August 2022, the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo will host "The Three Pietàs of Michelangelo", comparing the three iconic sculptures by the famous artist, born from different creative moments during Michelangelo's career of more than 50 years. The original Bandini Pietà, freshly restored by the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo, is joined by the Vatican Pietà (plaster cast) and the Rondanini Pietà (plaster cast) from the Vatican Museums, for a first-ever direct comparison in the Tribuna di Michelangelo.

On 19 March, the exhibition “Donatello, the Renaissance” opens in two locations, Palazzo Strozzi and the Museo del Bargello. It promises to be a historic experience, thanks to the extensive reconstruction of the great artist's life, works, and personality. For the first time, visitors will have the opportunity, until 31 July, to compare pieces from the most important institutions in the world, including works from the Skulpturensammlung und Museum für Byzantinische Kunst of the Berlin State Museums and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.

For the latest news in music, Florence welcomes the return of Firenze Rocks.

One of Europe's most important rock music festivals, it has registered over 530 thousand admissions since 2017, and from 16 to 19 June 2022 it will return after two years of the pandemic. The Visarno Arena will finally reunite the public with the most popular artists, including Muse, Placebo, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Metallica, and Greta Van Fleet. Tickets are already available!
