Festival del Maggio 2024: the prestigious calendar of events

  • 13 April 2024: Inauguration of the festival with Daniele Gatti. The antiphon “Ecce Sacerdos magnus” by Bruckner is scheduled, followed by “Psalm 13” by Zemlinsky and “Symphony No. 4” by Mahler.
  • 14 April: Concert of musical bands and performance by the Musicians of Calcio Storico Fiorentino, Piazzale del Teatro del Maggio.
  • From 21 April to 3 May: Series of performances of Puccini’s “Turandot”, conducted by Zubin Mehta with the famous staging by Zhang Yimou.
  • 2 May: World premiere at the Teatro della Pergola of the show dedicated to Fernando Pessoa by Bob Wilson.
  • 12 May: Riccardo Muti conducts the Vienna Philharmonic with a program including Mozart and Schubert.
  • 14 May: “Jeanne Dark” by Fabio Vacchi debuts in the world premiere, Sala Mehta.
  • 21 May: The Homme Armé ensemble performs music by Isaac and Desprès under the guidance of Fabio Lombardo.
  • From 24 May to 8 June: Series of performances of “Tosca” conducted by Daniele Gatti and directed by Massimo Popolizio.
  • 30 and 31 May: Trilogy of Ecstasy with the Compagnia Zappalà Danza, presenting “Après-midi d’un faune”, “Boléro” and “Le Sacre du Printemps”.
  • 1 June: The ORT (Orchestra della Toscana) conducted by the talented Riccardo Bisatti in a program including pieces by Busoni, Mahler, and Tchaikovsky.
  • 13 June: Closing of the festival with Dvořák’s “Symphony No. 7”, conducted by Zubin Mehta.
