The Zeffirelli Center for Performing Arts in Florence

The Museum of the International Center for the Performing Arts Franco Zeffirelli opens to the public on October 1, 2017. Located within the revitalized Complex of San Firenze, one of the rare examples of baroque architecture in the center of Florence, the Center aims to be first a performing art, scenography and direction School, from Theater to Cinema, from Opera and to Series: all fields in which Franco Zeffirelli has been a worldwide undisputed master.
Films such as Romeo and Juliet, Brother Sun Sister Moon, Hamlet, The Champion, Jesus of Nazareth, Homage to Rome, or majestic scenography of great Operas such as La Traviata and Othello are among Zeffirelli’s uncountable masterpieces.
The Zeffirelli Center is a multifunctional cultural center, besides the Museum that displays over 250 works by the director, including sketches, drawings and costumes figurines and the International School, ther will be temporary art exhibitions, a tea room, a restaurant and a bookshop.
In addition, screenings, movie reviews, concerts, conferences will take place all year long inside the oratory of San Firenze, which can accommodate up to 150 people.
